For many children, starting in pre-school is their first step towards independence.

At Riccall Pre-school our aim is to help them mix socially and to develop through a wide range of experiences and activities in a well-resourced, purpose-built, safe and happy environment.

With the emphasis on learning through play, activities on offer include imaginative play, baking, singing, painting, water play, craft, junk modelling, maths activities, construction and dressing up; all planned to create curious, active, young discoverers with a drive to learn. We have a secure garden and outdoor play area, zoned for different uses, where the children can use a wide range of outdoor toys.  We are the first choice for a smooth transition between early years setting and Riccall CP School because we are situated on the Riccall Primary School site and our children have a series of visits to the primary school in the summer term before they move over to the Foundation Class.

We use the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (March 2012) to plan and provide a range of play activities which help children to make progress in each of the areas of learning and development.

In our latest Ofsted inspection report, we have been judged Good in early years provision.
